11-year-old played dead to survive Syria massacre+Florida Cannibal eat’s off a homeless man’s face

When people ask me, “what are you most afraid of?”

Some say monsters, ghosts, spiders, darkness, and etc.

I’ve always been afraid of people. We value life so we find people in hospitals full of sickness and victims that are facing death. (that is why doctors get paid so much respect, $, and stress, tis life is so valuable) What I find most intriguing is what a human mind and body is capable of and how much impact and sometimes the bizarre often gory acts of inhumane decisions are becoming so unbelievably shocking.

Yesterday I overheard a conversation about a naked Florida man named Rudy Eugene who had to be shot couple of times to be stopped from devouring a homeless man’s face. This wasn’t the first time I heard about cannibals. News reports that another man in Maryland was under the influence of a street drugs, “bath salts” and was acting similarly like Rudy, hallucinating, superhuman, pain-endearing, and reckless monstrous behavior resulting in a body melt-down then death. Disturbingly curious, I saw a slideshow showing past photos of infamous Cannibals.

I’ve always wanted to know “WHY?” because I am almost always curious and I want to understand and know whether or not these evil acts were done under the influence of this bath salt drug or not..I’m realizing that if that is the case, then sometimes, humans stretch creation such as drugs, alcohol, and even the environment that usually results in a disastrous consequences. I don’t know the reasons behind the evil acts and evil hearts of murderers but I’m sure there are so many factors such as class, background, circumstances, and some even say just mental illnesses that leave us speechless and somewhat terrified by the awful truth. News always states the heavy, crazy, and the bizarre, but this hit me pretty hard.

And then I had this tab saved cuz I didn’t really know much about Syria and there seems to be unending violence and war overseas all the time so I wanted to glance at it. The headline was catchy because they included a snippet story of a 11-yr boy who survived from gruesome massacre by covering himself with his dead brother’s blood. I had no clue what was going on when I was reading. But, according to this news, the Shabiha militants that work for the Assad’s government which I assume it involves religion, division, and militant revolt shot/stabbed countless number of children, infants, mothers, and elderly-practically a massive blowout attack on the whole village in Houla.

pretty crazy, ridiculous, and shocking-like one of those moments “omygosh I’m so safe and comfortable here..”

just saying, these undeniably evil crimes and acts of hate and unidentifiable reasons were a bit overwhelming for my somewhat anxious and nervous mind already.

If you are curious read more and look up articles … I have all of my finals this week so back on it-

I SAW AN OWL!

that’s right in san diego!

that’s right in UCSD!

and that’s right during the daytime! (5pm) i guess that is considered to be night.. but it was light!

at first, I screamed in excitement, “HEDWIG”

and it was so still, but it was brown with a mix of cream and a bit of dark brown stripes

the face was kinda faceless

couldn’t spot the Owl’s eyes

maybe it had its’ eyes closed?

it wouldn’t move

so I tried to make howling “woot woot” sounds

and then it still wouldn’t move from the 25ft tree

I wanted to wake it up so I wanted to throw a pinecone at it

But

I had to leave.

2 Peter 5 make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

“I want to help you invest wisely in your future.” That’s what the financial advisor said as he began his talk about investing in 401(k)s and retirement funds. He wanted his listeners to continue putting money in the stock market during all the ups and downs of the economy because historically a good return will eventually occur.

God wants us to invest wisely in our spiritual future as well. Through the ups and downs of life’s circumstances we should continually invest in a “spiritual account”: our character. The apostle Peter tells us to be diligent about character development (2 Peter 1:5-11). After we trust in Christ for salvation, we are to invest these qualities into our character: faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.

The future returns on our investment in character will be godliness (vv.5-7), fruitfulness in the knowledge of Jesus Christ (v.8), assurance of our calling (v.9), and victory over sin (v.10).

Investing money in retirement funds can be profitable, but investing in our spiritual lives offers the best kind of return for our future!

Let us grow up into Christ,
Claiming His life and its powers—
The triumphs of grace in the heavenly place
That our conquering Lord has made ours. —Flint
Now is the time to invest in eternity.
